Senior Portraits At Mcconnell's Mill
McConnell's Mill State Park has to be one of my favorite spots near Pittsburgh for senior portrait photography, and it's a place my clients and I return to again and again. Together, we'll go on a short walk through towering rock formations to the mill down by the water, snagging some incredible portraits along the way. Its the perfect session for adventurous and nature-minded seniors who want the perfect blend of elegant portraits set against awe-inspiring landscapes.

Sometimes the most important thing to seniors when it comes to their portraits is that they embody what they love to do. For Jake, that means some badass soccer "sportraits" that show off his insane skill.
Of course, you still have to make mom happy, so our session also showed off Jake's sense of humor and genuine laughter, courtesy of a few terrible jokes from yours truly.

Senior Portraits At Golden Hour
Golden hour is THE time to shoot senior portraits. Combined with expert flash work, the golden light creates a perfect backdrop to immortalize senior year. The golden light also creates an amazing hair light effect that makes seniors glow! One of my favorite locations to shoot in is an open field, which makes the senior the center of attention. For Sarah, it also happens to be where she grew up.

I like to say there are a few "types" of seniors that I get to work with. Some might be eager or nervous, natural-born models or all-star athletes. My favorite part of capturing senior photography is figuring out what each senior is all about. For some people, that just means being captured beautifully in gorgeous lighting and a pretty dress. For others, it means showing off their skills, their weird talents, and everything they have worked on all through high school. More often than not, it's a little of both, and I am so excited to capture it all!

For me, senior photography was another box to check. The session was boring and cookie cutter, and it looked like everyone else's yearbook photos.
I am here to tell you senior photography doesn't have to be that way. Pitch me an idea, a location, a weird hobby or a specific shot, and I will make the senior photography of your dreams. Senior photography should capture you, and it should make you excited! And don't worry, we'll still get the shots that make mom happy too. There's plenty of room for both.

Set your worries aside. I'll provide you with a guide walking you through everything from outfit choices to portrait locations. I'll answer any questions you may have about the tips and tricks I've learned about portrait photography over the years. Of course, this is only a starting point, and we'll be sure to incorporate some of your own unique portrait styles and ideas to make your session truly yours.
Now we wait. While you're busy outfit shopping and reviewing your guide, I'll be patiently preparing for your portrait session. I'll keep an eye out for weather changes and other logistics in the week leading up to your session. In the meantime, feel free to ask me any questions. This is my opportunity to help you create the portraits YOU envision. Of course, if you're just along for the ride, that's cool too, just sit back and let me make you look your best.

The day is here! It's time to create some amazing portraits together. If you're nervous, that's normal, but I promise this will be the easiest thing you do all year.
Some people are naturals, but if that isn't you, you'd be in the majority! I'll walk you through organic posing prompts and tell you jokes so bad you'll have no choice but to pity laugh. Don't worry, you can't tell through pictures.

When it was time for my son's senior pictures, I knew I wanted Michael to be our photographer. I texted him and he gave me all the details and told me the best times for the best photos.
